Muhtaram Ulama / Muallimaat

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu

May Allah Ta’ala accept our feeble efforts in imparting the knowledge of Deen to the children of the Ummah.

Together with ta’leem it is important for us to also make the tarbiyat of our pupils. Tarbiyat refers to correcting them, guiding them and making their islaah.

In this regard the Ta’limi Board (KZN) has received many requests from teachers to prepare some topics discussing important aspects of tarbiyat.

Alhamdulillah by the grace of Allah Ta’ala the first edition has been prepared.

Topic: Speaking the truth and being honest.

It has been noticed that lies has become very common in Muslims. Truthfulness which was the hallmark of a Muslim has become very rare. Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) was known as As-Saadiq (The Truthful) Al-Ameen (The Honest).

Hence, let us try to the best of our ability to instill truthfulness and honesty in ourselves as well as the children in our classes.

This edition discusses some Ahaadith and important points on honesty which should be discussed with the children in our classes.

Insha Allah we hope in this way to pass on the wonderful teachings of Rasulullah (salallahu alayhi wasallam) to the Ummah and instill truthfulness and honesty in our own lives.

May Allah Ta’ala grant us all the taufeeq

Muhtaram Moulana / Apa

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu

Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah Ta’ala, we have entered the final term of our Madrasah year. May Allah Ta’ala accept our broken efforts and crown them with qabuliyat (acceptance).

Before commencing with Madrasah, let us try our best to plan out our work for the term so that we are ready for the final exams and can easily round up our work for the year. In English there is a saying that goes;

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail

Please take note of the following;

1. Tuhfatul Banaat / Tuhfatush Shabaab exams: This exam will take place on the 25 October Insha Allah. Those maktabs that need scripts for the exams should please contact the principal or Supervisor of the Madrasah.

2. Al-Maktab Newsletter: The last edition of the Al-Maktab newsletter was on Sadaqah. Please discuss the newsletter with the pupils and encourage them to give out sadaqah especially now with the Palestinian crisis we should try and give out some sadaqah daily. The newsletter has been attached.

3. Practicals and Sunnats Exams: Al-hamdulillah the practical and sunnats exams were conducted last term. Please check if there were any weaknesses and try to improve on the same especially the wudhu and the salaah of the pupils.

4. Rounding up of the syllabus: Try to round up whatever is left of the syllabus so that revision for the final exams can commence ASAP.

5. Final Exams: The final exams will commence in the second week of November insha Allah. The dates for the oral exam will be sent out shortly. The dates for the written exams are as follows:

Fiqh: 22 November

History: 29 November

Aqaaid: 5 December

Maktabs will close on Friday 8 December Insha Allah.

6. Revision program: Plan out a proper program for revision of Qaidah, Qur-aan, Surahs, Duas, Hadeeth, Fiqh, Aqaaid and History. This program must be written out and given to the children. Contact the parents to also assist in completing the revision program.

A special request to make dua for our Palestinian brothers and sisters as well as all the Muslims around the world.

May Allah Ta’ala bless us all and be pleased with us

Was Salaam

Mistake in the Practicals Kitaab

Please note error on page 50 of the Practicals Kitaab.
Salaah for females: Both hands should be kept on the upper part of the thighs with the fingers kept together. — Incorrect

The correct method is; “Place the hands on the thighs with the fingers together and the fingertips at the edge of the knees.” (Raddul Muhtaar Vol. 1 Page 504)”

When will Imaam Mahdi appear?

Once Moulana Ihtiramul Hasan Kandhlawi (RA) narrated:

Dr Abdul Carrim Saahib and myself were once discussing regarding the appearance of Imaam Mahdi. Doctor Saahib was of the opinion that he is to appear anytime now and I was insisting that there are certain signs mentioned in the Hadith that will appear before the appearance of Imaam Mahdi and those signs have not yet appeared. In order for Imaam Mahdi to make his appearance it is necessary to first witness those signs.

Thus, we went to Hadhrajee Moulana Inaamul Hasan Saahib (RA) to decide our matter. First Doctor Saahib explained his reasoning with proofs. Hadhratjee (RA) immediately broke all his proofs. When I heard this, I couldn’t contain my excitement because I felt that my case will now be strengthened.

But, I was totally dumbfounded when Hadhratjee (RA) broke all my proofs as well.

We both were now sitting silently when Hadhratjee (RA) said to us, “Bhai! Continue with the work you have been appointed to do. When the time is right for Imaam Mahdi to come he will come. What is the benefit in you wasting your valuable time in something that has not been entrusted to you?”

Difficulties and Hardships experienced by those involved in the service of Deen

(This is a summary of a few letters written by Hadhratjee Moulana In’aamul Hasan Saahib (RA) to some jamaat saathies who were going through some difficulties and hardships)

My respected brother

May Allah Ta’ala help you, assist you and make things easy for you. Please do not become perturbed. For people of Imaan, these difficult conditions are actually a Rahmah (mercy) although we do experience difficulty. In these trying conditions one should resort to abundant Taubah and Istighfaar and then make fervent dua to Allah Ta’ala. Thereafter, one should also take some steps to relieve oneself from these conditions so long as it is not anything sinful. It is hoped that Allah Ta’ala will transform this museebat (difficulty) into a Rahmat (mercy).

Tests, trials and tribulations are all from Allah Ta’ala and must afflict those involved in the work of Deen. Every person will be tested according to his ability and strength. This is the way of Allah Ta’ala and this is the sunnah of Nabi Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam. Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam faced opposition from his own household. Initially in Makkah Mukarramah, Abu Lahab and Abu Jahal opposed him. In Madinah Munawwarah the Jews opposed him. In Khaibar the Jews were then defeated but another opposition reared its ugly head in the form of the Munaafiqeen (hypocrites). This is how it was and this is how it will always be. Sayyed Ahmed Shaheed (rahmatullahi alayh) had to face defeat because his own people let him down. All these conditions will come to those serving Deen. There is only one way to remain firm (in these conditions) and that is tawajjuh ilallah i.e., turn to Allah Ta’ala. If we keep on turning to Allah Ta’ala, He will keep us firm (in all these difficult conditions).

Remember that these difficult conditions do not remain forever. Conditions must change. In Surah Alam Nashrah it is mentioned that with every difficulty there are two conditions of ease. Allah Ta’ala sends down one difficulty so that we can enjoy a double ease. It is like an exam. One has to first write the exam to get the 1st position. It is for this reason that Allah Ta’ala says;

استعينوا بالصبر والصلاة

Seek (Allah’s help) with Sabr and Salaah

In difficult conditions make sabr and do that which Allah Ta’ala is commanding us to do. This is abdiyat and this is servitude. Jannah is actually the prize for the difficulties one goes through in this world. On the day of Qiyaamah when those who were afflicted with hardships in this world are called up and rewarded for their patience, those who were blessed only with comforts will then envy them. They will wish that their bodies were cut up with scissors so that they could have also obtained such high positions in the hereafter.
