Guidelines for Practical and Sunnat Exams
Respected Moulana / Apa
Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu
May Allah bless you with aafiyah in dunya and Aakhirat.
In the third term, the practicals and sunnat exams are taken in all the Ta’limi Board Makaatib.
Regarding this exam, please take note of the following;
PRACTICALS
- Teaching the children how to make wudhu and perform Salaah is an OBJECTIVE of maktab teaching.
- Every child in every grade must know how to make istinjaa, make wudhu and perform Salaah.
- Although exams will be conducted only for the Grade 3 upwards, the Grade R, 1 and 2 children must also be taught how to make wudhu and perform Salaah.
- The Ustaaz/Apa must first properly demonstrate the entire wudhu/Salaah to the entire class.
- Thereafter every child must demonstrate it to the Ustaaz/Apa
- The Ustaaz/Apa must correct any mistakes and perfect the method of wudhu and Salaah keeping in mind that that these children will be making wudhu and performing Salaah everyday of their lives.
- If a child comes to the maktab and learns how to make wudhu and perform salaah correctly, we have indeed achieved our objective by the grace of Allah Ta’ala.
Sunnats
- Similarly, when teaching the Sunnats try and make sure that the children practice on every Sunnah.
- Demonstrate the sunnats to the children and get them to then demonstrate it to the teacher.
- Inculcate the love for Sunnah in the lives of the pupils.
- Narrate to them stories about the Sahaabah and the love they had for the Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam). There are many incidents of this nature in the Fazaaile Aamaal.
General
- Pupils will be tested on previous years grades as well
- Practicals of boys and girls must be done separately
- Practical exams for Grade 5 girls upwards must be done by an Apa not by the Moulana

- To instil the love of Allah Ta’ala, Nabi Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam , and the Sunnah in the hearts of the students.
