Respect for Parents
وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ اِحْسَانًا
“Be good to your parents”
(Qur-aan)
Among the greatest bounties of Allah Ta’ala upon us is the blessing of our “Beloved Parents.” As Muslims we are taught to always obey them and be good to them. If our parents are happy with us Allah Ta’ala will be happy with us and if they are displeased with us then Allah Ta’ala will also be displeased with us.
LONG LIFE AND ABUNDANT RIZQ (EARNINGS-SUSTENANCE)
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam has said, “Whoever wishes to have a long life and abundant rizq (sustenance) must behave kindly to his parents and maintain good ties with them.” This means that we must always be good to our parents and always be in contact with them. By doing this, Allah Ta’ala will bless us with a long life and lots of wealth.
THE DOORS OF JANNAH ARE OPENED
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, “Whoever gets up in the morning and obeys Allah Ta’ala with regard to his parents (by obeying and being good to them), two doors of Jannah will be opened for him and if one (parent is alive), then one (door of Jannah will be opened for him). Whoever gets up in the morning, disobedient to Allah Ta’ala with regard to his parents (by disobeying, disrespecting and ill-treating them), two doors of Jahannam will be opened for him and if one (parent is alive), then one (door of Jahannam will be opened for him).” A man asked, “Even if his parents oppress him?” Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam replied, “Even if they oppress him, even if they oppress him, even if they oppress him.”
From this Hadith we learn that we are totally indebted to our parents no matter how they may treat us. They work hard day and night only for our good. They provide for us and see to our welfare. They are always there for us when we need them.
PUNISHMENT IN THIS WORLD
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: “Allah Ta’ala forgives all sins except disobedience to parents, for verily a disobedient child will first be punished in his lifetime.”
A GLANCE OF MERCY
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: “An obedient child, who looks towards his parents with mercy, will be rewarded by Allah Ta’ala with an accepted Haj for every glance.” The Sahaabah radiyallahu anhu asked, “Even if he looks at them (with mercy) a hundred times daily?” Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam replied, “Yes! Allah Ta’ala is much greater and much purer than that.”
DO YOU WANT YOUR CHILDREN TO BE GOOD TO YOU?
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, “Be good to your parents. By doing this your children will be good to you.”
RIGHTS OF PARENTS
1. Don’t not cause harm to your parents.
2. Respect and honour them. Don’t speak rudely to them.
3. If they ask you to do some work, make sure you do it willingly.
4. In Islam, the rights of the grandparents are similar to those of the parents. They should be respected as well.
5. Make the following dua for them “Rabbir hamhuma kama rabbayaani sagheerah” (O! Allah have mercy on them as they had mercy on me when I were small).
6. If one or both your parents have passed away, continue making dua of forgiveness and mercy for them. Continue sending rewards to them by reciting Qur’aan, giving charity on their behalf, etc. Abstain from crying and wailing aloud or else their souls will be troubled.
7. Meet their friends and relatives in a good friendly way.

Valentines Day and its harms
Muhtaram Ulama / Muallimaat
Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu
Tomorrow the Kuffaar will celebrate Valentine’s Day.
This day is a day celebrated by Christians. Its origin is in Christianity. It has nothing to do with Islam. Muslims should not be part of this celebration at all.
In schools, teachers encourage the children to dress in red and celebrate the day by giving gifts, cards and roses to those they love. This then destroys the hayaa and shame in our children.
Shaytaan will try to trick us in different ways and rob us of our Imaan. We have our days of celebration like Eidul Fitr, Eidul Adha, Aashoora, etc.
Take out a few minutes today during Madrasah time and discourage the children from engaging in such practices. Insha Allah this may then become the means of saving the Imaan of these little children.
May Allah protect our Imaan and the Imaan of our little innocent children. Aameen.

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu
As we are drawing closer to the Mubaarak month of Ramadhaan, let us commence with ta’leem of the Fazaail-e-Ramadhaan.
Daily take out a few minutes (3-4) minutes and read out a section from the Fazaail-e-Ramadhaan (Abridged Version).
This daily ta’leem will insha Allah become a means of preparing the minds of our young learners for this mubaarak month.
May Allah bless us in the months of Rajab and Sha’baan and take us to the month of Ramadhaan with aafiyat and ease. Aameen.
