Guidelines for Practical and Sunnat Exams

Respected Moulana / Apa

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu

May Allah bless you with aafiyah in dunya and Aakhirat.

In the third term, the practicals and sunnat exams are taken in all the Ta’limi Board Makaatib.

Regarding this exam, please take note of the following;

PRACTICALS

  1. Teaching the children how to make wudhu and perform Salaah is an OBJECTIVE of maktab teaching.
  2. Every child in every grade must know how to make istinjaa, make wudhu and perform Salaah.
  3. Although exams will be conducted only for the Grade 3 upwards, the Grade R, 1 and 2 children must also be taught how to make wudhu and perform Salaah.
  4. The Ustaaz/Apa must first properly demonstrate the entire wudhu/Salaah to the entire class.
  5. Thereafter every child must demonstrate it to the Ustaaz/Apa
  6. The Ustaaz/Apa must correct any mistakes and perfect the method of wudhu and Salaah keeping in mind that that these children will be making wudhu and performing Salaah everyday of their lives.
  7. If a child comes to the maktab and learns how to make wudhu and perform salaah correctly, we have indeed achieved our objective by the grace of Allah Ta’ala.

Sunnats

  1. Similarly, when teaching the Sunnats try and make sure that the children practice on every Sunnah.
  2. Demonstrate the sunnats to the children and get them to then demonstrate it to the teacher.
  3. Inculcate the love for Sunnah in the lives of the pupils.
  4. Narrate to them stories about the Sahaabah and the love they had for the Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam). There are many incidents of this nature in the Fazaaile Aamaal.

General

  1. Pupils will be tested on previous years grades as well
  2. Practicals of boys and girls must be done separately
  3. Practical exams for Grade 5 girls upwards must be done by an Apa not by the Moulana

Favouritism & Victimisation (Two Sins Teachers should beware of )

Bismihi Ta’ala

Teaching little children in a maktab is a great blessing of Allah Ta’ala. Allah Ta’ala has favoured us by sending these children to us to learn Deen. Teaching them is an Amaanat regarding which we will be questioned about on the Day of Qiyaamah.
Many a times, as teachers we fall into the sin of favouring pupils we like, or victimising pupils we dislike. Favouritism means giving unfair preferential treatment to […]

Allah Ta’ala alone fashions and shapes everything to perfection and full of beauty. When Allah Ta’ala created us, He created us with perfection. Allah Ta’ala did not give us a long giraffe neck or a small chicken leg or a long elephant nose or sharp crocodile teeth. Allah Ta’ala shaped us perfect and beautiful. No one can change us or improve on us. Allah Ta’ala alone fashions and shapes things as He wishes. Look and admire the creation of Allah Ta’ala and enjoy the beauty and perfection of His creation. This will bring alive in us the recognition and appreciation of our Allah.

Imaani Muzakarah

If I look after Allah’s commands, Allah Ta’ala will look after me and will be with me
If I need anything, I must ask Allah Ta’ala alone and turn to Allah Ta’ala alone for help
The whole world cannot hurt me or help me without the permission of Allah Ta’ala
Allah Ta’ala created me, He owns me, feeds me and takes care of me
